Thursday at Spectrum Miami was another great success, drawing showgoers in droves to check out the incredible paintings, photography, sculpture, and glasswork that filled the booths. Attendees enjoyed Meet the Artist sessions and live demos throughout the afternoon and evening, as well as the Art Talk “Environment and Landscape in Contemporary Art,” featuring Linda VarnHagen-Phelps, an artist and professor at Miami International University of Art & Design.
At the show today, design is the main focus! Make sure to join us for two great Design Friday presentations in the Art Talk Area (located in the Red Dot tent) hosted by Robin Hodes, editor of Florida Design Magazine:
1:00 p.m. DEFINING YOUR COLLECTION
Hodes and her panelists—Ashley Ramos of the Oliver Cole Gallery, David Miranda of Dida Home, and Troy Dean Ippolito of Troy Dean Interiors—discuss how to identify your taste, define your style, and collect what you love. They’ll talk about color, theme, genre, and interpretive message, plus how to incorporate it all into your home decor.
3:00 p.m. DESIGNING A HOME FOR ART COLLECTORS
Hodes, along with Brian Westbrook of Westbrook Modern Gallery and Alene Workman of Alene Workman Interior Design, offer suggestions on how to design your home for your style and your art collection. Join the discussion on color, room theme, and public vs. private spaces, plus choosing the right space for each type of piece.
Also on tap for today are several more Meet the Artist events, giving you the chance to find out more about individual artists’ inspirations and career journeys. Check out the full schedule to see what’s happening when, and follow Spectrum Miami on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for on-the-scene snapshots.
